Selwyn Blieden

Selwyn Blieden is a Non-Executive Director of Etavi Renewables, bringing experience in consulting, banking, private equity and investment across Africa. He is Co-CEO of Caleo Private Equity, which provides growth capital to businesses in South Africa and other markets.

Before joining Caleo, Selwyn led Absa’s commercial property finance business across Africa outside South Africa. His responsibilities included setting the business’s strategy, developing client relationships and working with country teams to deliver financing.

Selwyn was a founding member of RMB Westport, where he led deal negotiation, structuring and corporate management for major developments in Nigeria, including Ikeja City Mall and Oando Wings. He also co-founded and managed Rand Merchant Bank’s Opportunities in Global Real Estate portfolio. His career began at McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg, working on assignments across Africa.

He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA Charterholder. His background combines analytical depth with practical experience in structuring investments and financing businesses and projects.
